Pastor’s Message
Greetings to you, my brothers and sisters in Christ!
With the good food of the church picnic still lingering on our lips and the renewal of our spirits from Vacation Bible School, let us welcome August! Even with our record summer heat … our enthusiasm to be Christ’s church is strong! Sign up sheets for Caritas are filling up and plans are set for the care of our soon to arrive guests. It has been a good summer at Gayton Road—a summer chocked full of God’s sightings!
Here is my list of observations over the summer:
- The church received some much needed equipment for the office and the kitchen from anonymous donors.
- There were a whole lot of folks building and painting a very large ship in our fellowship hall.
- Jeremy earned the title Boatwright. I look at that ship and I think…miracle?
- Our organist, Clint, can play hymns we call out and still provide our worship services with the most beautiful preludes and postludes!
- Volunteers poured forth for teaching Vacation Bible School.
- Our VBS director said YES!
- The Youth raised a lot of money for VBS with a car wash.
- We sent three youth to camp and they want to go back next year.
- Jonathan has led a spirited filled Bible study on Tuesday mornings and still managed two lock-ins for the youth.
- Andi and her husband Kevin have gotten our new office computer up and running and loaned us a projector to use this month.
- Megan has led us with her beautiful voice and guitar in worship.
- The clowns made an appearance after a long sabbatical!
- My family from Texas pitched in with music and puppet show!
- EJ Wingo is as steady as his drum beats!
- Everyone is doing something for Caritas.
- Our children and youth have had a quality education during the summer.
- Our worship attendance has held through the summer and I have seen a lot of smiles!
There is of course much more to mention. How is your God sightings list coming along? Where have you seen God at work this summer? I would love to hear from you and if you give me permission…I will pass along our God sightings to our church website to share with the world. The God who began a good work in us through Christ Jesus will see it through to completion!
I will see you in church this Sunday!
Blessings,
Revy Debbie
