                This Wednesday we begin the season of Lent with our Ash Wednesday service.   Lent is a meaningful season in the life of our church.  We join with Christians around the world to mark the journey to Jerusalem and live out Christ’s story.  During the Sundays of Lent, we will be reviewing the biblical concept of covenant.  It is my prayer that our time of worship will lead us to renewing our own covenant with God and to appreciate more fully the “New Covenant.” 

                I don’t often give advice but I want to take that liberty to give some here.  Lent can’t be a meaningful season without prayer, worship and study.  I suggest, strongly suggest, that we make these a priority for this season.  Let’s commit to exercise our prayer muscles.  If we are used to praying on a daily basis, then add another time of prayer to the day.  If we haven’t gotten the concept of scheduled prayer time into our agendas, what better time than to commit to a Lenten prayer time each day?  Worship is going to be an important part of guiding us to the cross and resurrection but is also an opportunity to give to God.  We please God when we come together and focus upon God.  Set a bold goal of being in church for ALL the Sundays of Lent and Easter!  Lastly, I encourage all of us to participate in the Lenten Bible Study.  It is an hour to give up in a busy week but it will lead us to new heights spiritually.  We come together on Sunday mornings at 9:45 or Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm.  Make a commitment with me to engage in prayer, worship and study! 

                It begins on Wednesday at 7:00 pm.  God has much in store for us.  May we be faithful!
