Our next special celebration is October 3rd, World Communion Sunday.  On that day, Gayton Road Christian Church will join Christians’ around the world as we eat and drink at the Lord’s Table.  People of many languages, in churches large and small, grand, ornate, simple, in homes, or made of mud brick and palm branches, will eat together at the Welcome Table and declare that we are One.  We are God’s people!

After worship that Sunday, the Worship committee and Outreach committee invite you to stay for Linger Longer.  It too will be special, as we taste treats from the U.S.A. and many other countries.  If you would like to prepare something for this Table of Goodies, please let Carol Malla, Jennifer Barnum or Virginia Taylor know.

Beginning on June 8, the Summer Bible Study will meet every Tuesday at 10:30 am to explore and discuss selected passages from the Bible.  We will focus primarily on narrative portions from the Hebrew Bible; in other words, we’ll be looking at some juicy stories!  We will also look to provide childcare during the Bible study beginning on June 29. If you have any questions or would like to hear more about the Bible study, please contact Jonathan Kruschwitz.

Are you looking for something to do this summer?  Want a “vacation with a purpose?”  If you answer yes to either question, then “Get Dirty For Jesus”.  Disciples Volunteering in partnership with Week of Compassion are sponsoring a Summer Building Project June 6-August 7, 2010 in Beaumont, Texas.  In 2005, Northwood Christian Church was hit hard by Hurricane Rita.  The church is now ready to build a new center of worship and ministry.  Volunteers are welcome for any amount of time during the 2 month building period.  The registration fee is $175.00 per person per week and includes 3 meals a day, place to sleep on the floor of the church, t-shirt, insurance and water bottle.  Transportation to and from Texas is each participant’s responsibility.

For more information please visit www.discipleshomemissions.org/Volunteer/DisciplesVolunteer and click on Summer Project.

Beginning June 6, children and youth will meet together on Sundays for Summer Church School – a time of Bible exploration and worshipful interaction with one another and with God.  We’re currently looking for interested volunteers who would offer up one Sunday during the summer to assist with Summer Church School.  If you’re interested in volunteering or learning more, please contact Jonathan Kruschwitz.
